Compact Rotary Speaker Gains Better Cabinet and Finish as the Studio 12+
Hammond USA announces significant improvements to its runaway hit compact Leslie Studio 12 speaker cabinet. The Leslie Studio 12 is the smallest and lightest model in the companies’ history to feature the classic rotating treble horn and rotating woofer drum.
Beginning in the first quarter of 2015, the Leslie Studio 12+ will ship with a new multi-ply Birch cabinet that will enhance the sound of the unit. The cabinets are hand made in America.
Along with the new construction, the Studio 12+’s will feature a heavy-duty new black textured polyurethane finish which will resist the wear and tear of transit, keeping the units cosmetically attractive.
Unchanged will be the Studio 12+’s tube preamp and 100-watt power amp, Heavy -Duty full range woofer and custom horn driver. Also onboard is Hammond/Leslie’s new dual-race Horn Bearing (Made in USA) which dramatically lowers the mechanical noise level and allows a much smoother action.
The Studio 12 has been a resounding success with Keyboard Players who desire the unique tone of a genuine Leslie, but have limited stage space and transport capabilities. The Studio 12 is roughly the size and weight of a typical Combo Bass Amp, and it can be moved in most any vehicle. Guitar players have also embraced the Studio 12 due to its ease of hookup (common 1/4” Guitar Cable) and speed control through a common footswitch; eliminating the need for the bulky floor preamps and multi-pin cables of the past.
The Leslie Studio 12+ will be demonstrated at the upcoming NAMM Expo in Anaheim California (Booth 5100b) January 22-25 2015
